Here we go top of the line  Z 250 watt transformer. This has the original  face plate in worn but readable condition.  Included with price is Great Reproductin Box with Z Transformer 250 watt label!! Please look at the pictures.   In my own personal layout I use 1 Z Transformer to power my lights and accessories.    I have  professionally replacing the original power cord I have also cleaned the excess carbon off the copper windings (one side shown in picture 4)and have checked all the original carbon rollers and I have replaced all 4 rollers even though it was not needed.  I don't think this Z was used much.   I replaced the rollers with a Lionel Arbor Press and Lionel die tools (made for Lionel by Chicago Rivet and Tool Company) to actually "press" the rollers in.  Insist on Lionel tools and presses!! Check out my other ZW's and KW's and you will see some or all the rollers are replaced that way.  It takes a lot longer to press them in because you have to take the contact arms out of the Z, ZW and the KW but it is the only way to do it right!! Most people don't have the tools to press rollers in and they actually pinch the ends and they don't roll as good. If you look in picture 3 and 4 you will see that I have drilled a 1 3/4 inch hole to allow 2 things to occur: 1) This allows you to inspect the 2 rollers without having to unsolder the breaker and take the lower case assembly off.  Now you just need to unscrew four screws and remove the bottom base plate and you can inspect the lower rollers.2) The second thing the hole does is to allow heat from the coil to escape, thereby cooling the transformer. I have worked very hard on this Z and it is ready for a new home!!  I have also checked all 4 gear and bushings on all 4 shaft assembly's and they are all perfect.  I have original Lionel gear assembly's new original never used and original shafts. So if they need to be replaced I have them. You are assured of getting 4 great and tight shaft assembly's.  This is the problem you get on some of them when they spin and spin because the teeth have worn out on the gear.  I have original brand new gear and bushings  so I replace them as needed. I have tested the circuit breaker and it works and the red light comes on when activated because I have checked and inspected both the breaker and wires. .  The bottom base plate has been professionally sanded to bare metal  and painted with a professional black satin paint.  Insist on original parts. I stock all replacement parts so if the Z's need them I replace them. The case, handles and posts are in very good condtion. Also included is a COPY of the original instructions. Plate is in good condition as well.   This Z has been tested and the readings are excellent.   This will not only make a post war train run off the tracks but quite possible make it FLY. I use a Fluke voltage meter made in the USA (same kind is used by the US Military and NASA)  to check voltages.  The unit cost $239.00 brand new.  Be wary of those that use a cheap $3.00 voltage checker from an import super store!!   At maximum output readings are: AU: 25.41 AC volts. BU: 25.41 AC volts. CU 25.41 AC volts. DU 25.41 volts. Insist on at least 25 volts out of an Z model!!
